FIFA Interactive World Cup 2012 Japan qualifier sponsored by EA SPORTS™ and PlayStation® was held at TV Asahi event space umu on March 31st 2012 (Sat).
Total of 59 participants joined this exciting tournament. The championship went to Takahide Hazome. He commented, “First, my strategy didn’t work well, but once I found my rhythm, I found ways to just win. I will be doing my best at the grand final for all the players who joined the tournament today”. Takahide will be receiving a ticket to the Grand Final which is going to take place at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai from May 21-23, 2012 as the Japan qualifier champion and will compete with 31 other champions from all over the world. The world champion will also be receiving US$20,000 and an invitation to the 2012 FIFA World Player GALA Ceremony to be awarded together with the TOP soccer players in the world.
As the Japan qualifier champion, Takahide also received a special prize from EA JAPAN (all game titles released for the next year), PlayStation®Vita, Sony Tablet S series Wi-Fi model, mi adidas gift card, and an adidas TANGO12.
Second place, Keigo Suga received PlayStation®Vita and a Sony Cyber-shot digital camera.
Kayo Sato, fashion model and a famous gamer herself appeared as a special guest. She talked about how she loves gaming and her own experience having joined world gaming tournaments for the fighting game category.
Akihiko Nishioka, the official Japanese voice for FIFA 12 appeared as the main MC and shared his expertise and passion for football. All of the players were excited to have their game play announced live by the “Official” voice.
A special performance by globally renowned free style football performer, CUBE also raised the voltage of venue.
Sergio Echigo, a legendary soccer commentator who has called many big games made a special appearance for Sony x Football Facebook page. “This is my first time to participate video gaming event. I grew up playing “outdoor soccer”, but I learned today that now we have a new style of football to enjoy with friends. I think this is great how people can enjoy each other’s company through football “digitally” today. If I lived in the young generation, I would have competed too. Good luck at the grand finals. I think the next year’s tournament can bring even higher level!”
More than 300 visitors contributed to the incredible atmosphere cheering on their player. They also enjoyed a variety of football related activities such a special adidas memorabilia uniform displays along with free play game machines for PS3 and PS VITA to fully enjoy the world of FIFA.
